All Art sessions for 2020
This year I am using a brand new structure for the art tuition throughout the year. There are two days on which there will be a mixed ability and mixed course/topic group where students will be working on different projects.
The sessions will be held on Wednesdays and Thursdays. From 1-3pm each day. Course fees will be £11.50 for each session. These sessions are ongoing for as long as you like.
For complete Beginners:
Beginners Acrylic Techniques Course
You can work through a number of 4 week long projects learning different techniques used in Acrylic paints. Each project builds on previously learnt techniques and colour mixing adding new techniques for each project. Students are asked to provide their own materials from a list supplied.
Silk Painting – The Serti Technique
Using simple silk painting techniques to paint a silk painting of three fishes or other simple design on a background. These are painted using a colourful abstract approach, using the serti technique for the outline and internal design detail on the fish (or other). The background will be painted using the wet into wet technique with the use of salt to add a fascinating textural result. Basic colour mixing will also be learnt. Materials for this project can be supplied for an additional cost of £5.
Coloured Pencil Techniques
Using artist quality pencil (not water soluble) learning some of the most widely used techniques and some colour mixing. Working on a good quality drawing paper or hot pressed water colour paper. Building in layers, working over a water colour base, blending techniques, soft edges and even polishing the work! I will provide a reference to work from.
Free Choice
For those with a little experience you also have the option of working on your own project with one to one advice where you can focus your learning. For example; you may like to continue your learning of water colour and focus on how to tackle a background, or maybe conquer the use of masking fluid.
I am very well informed on most popular art media and will be able to help you in many ways. Please give me a call on 01372 743640 to book a place and to discuss your choice. We can chat about what to expect, start dates and, availability of spaces.
For Intermediate and Advanced level:
Intermediate Acrylic Techniques
A number of 4 week long projects learning different Acrylic Painting techniques. Each project builds on previously learnt techniques with the introduction of new ones most suited to each project. Moving on from the beginner level projects, further techniques such as glazing, using a white underpainting, and using palette knives to paint with are just a taste of these new techniques. Students are asked to provide their own materials from the list supplied.
Drawing skills
A review of drawing techniques for those who wish to review previous learning either from Epsom Art Courses or elsewhere. Students can choose their own topic and with a reference of your choice you will learn to break down the skills required to enable you to draw any subject at all. It’s all the same once you focus on these skills. You could even do a portrait!
Silk Painting
For those who are familiar with the basics of silk painting. You can select your own subject which I can help you break down into a design suited to the serti technique. Or you may like to choose from a selection of references I have. You can use materials supplied at a small charge of £5. You will need to bring your own water colour or Chinese painting brushes.
Coloured Pencil
Bring along your own reference and we can select the most suited surface and techniques to use, in order to make the best use of the coloured pencils. Bear in mind that coloured pencils from school days are a world away from the beautiful professional artist’s quality coloured pencils available today. They can produce not only soft and gentle colours, but also excellent darks and bright colours too!
